About me: Scott Geoffrey Gates
I am a Research Professor at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), a Professor of Political Science, and a Guest Researcher at ESOP at the Department of Economics at the University of Oslo. Previously I have worked at the Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU) and Michigan State University.
My current research interests include: governance, bureaucracies and organizations, conflict dynamics, and the development consequences of warfare.
I have published 24 peer-reviewed academic articles and ten books, including War and State-Building in Afghanistan (2015, Bloomsbury). I am an Associate Editor of the Journal of Peace Research and is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Area Studies Review. John Brehm and I are the 2014 co-recipient of the Herbert Simon Award for research on bureaucratic politics. I am a member of The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA) and The Royal Norwegian Society of Science and Letters (DKNVS). My current research interests include: governance, conflict dynamics, and the development consequences of warfare.
